Often classified ads will refer to items as "vintage" - i.e. vintage clothing, vintage camera equipment, etc. What exactly does this mean?

vintage is old fashioned and unique... things that are of best and past quality.. clothes or items that have been kept in good condition from a past time and are still valuable and usable

i believe it means a time a style was in fashion ie 70's vintage, 80's vintage and 90's vintage a bit like a vintage wine which means the year it was made

It's come to mean something that is old or used, but not old enough to qualify as 'antique.' One rule of thumb is that 'vintage' pertains to items less than 50 years old.

When I see this used in this context, to me it means - not old enough to be antique and too old to be considered new. Therefore, I'd say it applies to things that are anywhere from 10 to 50 years old. Just my opinion.

Old - not current state of the art, and normally no longer in production - but in good, usable, working condition.
