I know it's their winter now but in Neighbours (and by association, Melbourne), they never have heavy coats, scarfs boots, gloves etc on and I've yet to see it snow in any Australian programme.

Chair wizard III - ONLY 12-14*c. It's supposed to be your blooming winter. In the depths of a typical English winter you can reduce that temperature by about ... oooh, 15 degrees.
I't's not that much warmer than 14 degrees now and it's July. That may not mean much to you but to us it means summer.

Please DON'T judge Melbourne by anything you see on Neighbours! It doesn't bear any resemblance to REAL LIFE!
In the outer eastern and northern suburbs it occasionally gets down to 0 celcius and people will wear a heavy coat, hat and maybe a scarf. But what makes Melbourne coldest in the winter is when we get strong Southwest or Southerly winds that come straight from Antartica. Then everyone wears coats, hats, scarves and anything else that will keep the wind out and keep them warm. We refer to these winds as being "lazy", they try to go through you instead of around!
We have snow at Mt Donna Buang and Lake Mountain which are reasonably close (about 75 miles) to Melbourne as well as further away at Mt Buller, Mt Hotham, Mt Baw Baw, Falls Creek (all over 1500 metres). Occasionally, light snow will fall two or three times a season in the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne and in the Kinglake area, north of Melbourne.
If you saw the movie, "Man from Snowy River", it was filmed around Mt Buller/Mt Stirling and was shot in the snow.
Google "Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Lake Mountain" for photos of snow in Australia.

Yes we do get cold in Melbourne. Today was only 14*c and it was mostly fine and same as tomorrow but on Tuesday will be very wet and hail could fall and it will only reach 12*c. It does snow on the mountains around Melbourne but the further north you go the warmer the weather is.

Writing to you from a cold winter night in Sydney, I can confirm that it does get cold in Australia.
Melbourne weather is comparable to London UK, where it is pretty miserable at most times.
You haven't seen snow on Neighbours because it doesn't snow in Melbourne. The main part of Australia that has snow are (ironically) the Snowy mountains, which are about 6 hours drive south of Sydney.
Cold for us is about 15C during the day and about 7C at night.

I live in Melbourne, and I can tell you that we have been getting cold, wet and overcast weather quite a lot with only a few days here and there with sunshine. As far as snow is concerned I think they are getting the best snow season this year.

Where Neighbours supposed to take place is not that cold.
I am in southern New Southe Wales and it is going to be
–4° C tonight. A bit further down south is the snowfiled and they are having a bumper snow fall in years!

It does indeed snow in Australia, but the temperature only really gets that cold as far south as Melbourne. There's actually pretty good skiing to be had in Victoria!

I live on Surfers Paradise and it gets down to 7 or 8 degrees at night in winter and the days are around 18 - 25, might sound warmish but when you are used to hotter, it is chilly chicken. And when you add in the wind chill it is considerably cooler.
There are of course world class ski resorts in southern Australia. Never been myself, but the snow is about 5 feet deep at the mo..............so I would imagine thats a tad chilly!!

very easy answer is Australia is lots closer to the equator. i could desire to bypass into climate varieties and such-like yet in basic terms study the two on a globe (no longer an atlas) the alternative area of the international to Britain is someplace off the south east coast of recent Zealand that's a lot cooler
