My neighbour has a row of Leylandii trees growing very close to my house, the trees are up to the height of my roof and the branches are now touching the side of my house. I understand I can cut back any branches that are in my boundaries and my neighbour is responsible for all the cuttings. The main problem is the height of the trees, they block the sunlight from my garden. What rights do I have with regards to this matter???

Hmmm this has been a very touchy subject for some years now and has caused many neighbourhood rifts. If they are above roof height and blocking your sunlight then this is actually illegal. I think the current legislation stipulates 8 foot. Any overhanging branches you can remove yourself but I do not believe this includes the tops. It may take civil court proceedings to force your neighbour to cut them down though. Before embarking on this please speak to you Citizens Advice Buro.

A bow+arrow with a flame on the end, borrow it from James Fennimore Cooper and it can be fired from about 300 feet, tree will self-destruct in 20 seconds! [nice one]
