For you Bosux fan from a Yankee fan so you can understand: Most stadium P-R-O-H-I-B-I-T in taking food from competitors and they will inspect your bag to see if you did bring any food. The Yanks will S-W-E-E-P your Bosuxs and win their 10th straight AL East Divsion.

I wouldn't think so.

Back in the early 1990s ('91-'93) I used to sneak a can of Coke in each front pocket of my jean jacket, then get something from the food carts outside Fenway on the way in. Security was never as tight as it was at the old Foxboro Stadium, even then, and the Red Sox were pretty mediocre, record-wise.

(Foxboro security took the beer I tried sneaking in, in 1991 at a Pats-Jets game that didn't come close to selling out as the Pats were horrendous in the early '90s.)

Since September 11, 2001 they've gone haywire with security in all pro sport league games, so if you bring in a sub chances are the fat guy watching the surveillance camera tapes in the Fenway Park security command center is getting a free meal that you paid for. And since the Red Sox are far better than they were in '91-'93 and always sell out, you know security isn't going to be lax.

My suggestion? Get cheap, filling food before you go, and in Boston you'll have no problem getting good food at any of the zillion and one restaurants they have downtown. (especially if it's before a 7 PM game). Only order food at Fenway if you absolutely have to, and don't forget where you sat when you go on a pee break during a pitching change.

I don't know about food, but the last time I went my cousin, dad, and I brought a couple bottles of Coke and water and the security didn't mind...I guess if you show them the food they won't mind? As long as there's not like a bomb inside your sandwhich or something lol. My friend brings several cans of soda to every Sox game he goes too, along with a plastic BB gun (I don't know how he gets past security with that) and he shakes up the soda can, chucks it in the air, and shoots it with the BB gun and it explodes all over the crowd (why does he do that? I don't know).

Actually, I know of at least one stadium that actually encourages you to bring your own items. The Ballpark in Arlington allows you to do so. My wife and I learned this when we went last time and saw everyone else with coolers and snacks when we were stuck buying concession food. Now, mind you, I don't think they allow beer and do check the coolers on the way in. But, they allow it and most people just end up bringing water and sunflower seeds anyway, so no harm done.

No team will encourage you to bring food to the ballpark because they want sales from their concessions. However, if you just bring a fruit or a sandwich nobody is going to say anything even if they saw it. Where they really would have a problem is if you bring a picnic basket to the game.

You aren't allowed to bring food into Fenway per stadium rules. Usually it will say on your ticket(in very small print) most of the stadium rules and one is that no outside food or drink are allowed in.

As someone involved in food service at a professional sports venue, I can tell you that most of them prohibit bringing food into the facility, and, if caught with it, it can be confiscated.
