I think it has to do with control.

In other countries eyes they see the U.S. as a controlling "big brother." Especially when we invaded Iraq and brought them democracy. I don't think that was the best thing to do.

It made the U.S. look controlling as well as making matters worse in a country that was torn apart; the sunni and the shi'ites.

Why do the U.S. citizens love George Bush when he clearly is dumb and not articulate?

Is that what we really want in a president?

I guess that's what the financial backers want.
Lord knows they are the ones calling the shots.

Satan the devil is very busy! His time left on earth is short. It's not just the nations who are fighting and hating each other, its is the whole world. When he is destroyed he wants to take as much of the population with him as he can. He has mislead the whole world.

REVELATION 12: 7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi´cha•el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

12:12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”

Even your allies (the majority of the british people) personally - don't like the US, or what it is now.

And it is nothing to do with jealousy frankly.

That is a cop out.

They hate the christianisation of politics and foriegn policy - and the right wing - that seem make up the majority of the american people and what they stand for.

They hate being accused of being communists - because they have a national health care system (even though they fought communism with you for 45 years).

But hey ho..all debts have now been repaid in full (and then some - and then somemore) and we are now quits, so america (in my mind at least) can now just get stuffed.

Enjoy your progessively extremist relationship with Isreal and your fanatically paranoid relationship with the rest of the world.

We are off into Europe as soon as this wars over..

Depends. Some countries have grievances against us, and some are legitimate.

For example, an Iranian citizen could easily justify disliking the USA. In the '50's we overthrew their government and installed a dictator, known as the Shah. We gave Iraq weapons to fight the Iranians in the '80s. They helped us in our campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan, and Bush turned around and called them evil.

I can see perfectly why some people there would dislike us, even though most polls show that the majority of people there have no problem with us.

We have a long history of meddling in other countries affairs. Its bound to cause resentment of us and our policies. The term for this is "blowback".

Another example. We've had troops in Saudi Arabia for a long time now. Saudi Arabia is Muslim Holy Land, and you can bet your bottom dollar that alot of Muslims (including Osama Bin Laden) resent us for that. Those same people also resent us because we support the government of Saudi Arabia, which is a corrupt dictatorship.

Of course Saudis and others are going to resent us for that. Their response is to use terrorism. Its understandable. Not justifiable in my mind, but understandable nonetheless.

GratefulDead puts it rather well.

Other countries have much longer memories than the USA. America acts like a present day saviour with the whole Iraq thing but the rest of World remembers the USA waited too long before they joined in the World Wars to fight evil...and they only joined in to serve their own interests and then claimed they saved the World.

Grateful had me until he said don't blame Bush. While I don't 100% blame him, he gets the lion's share of blame as he is the only President to embroil us in a situation from which it is extremely difficult to exctricate ourselves. It is he and his neocon buddies, predominantly Cheney and Wolfowitz, and the American hegemony they spout and practice, which has placed us where we are now.
To answer your question though, the reason many countries dislike the US is because of arrogance, imperialistic attitudes, and hegemonistic beliefs.

America does not like George Bush. Even the Military do not support George Bush!

Bush didn't even get the most popular votes in the 2000 election, Gore did!

Our arrogance and the way we push people around, often sticking our nose in places it does not belong!

I don't like America right now. We are off course and taking the low road!

Not Jealousy as Groundhog so predictably said!
Other countries don't necessarily dislike the US, I am Australian and have nothing to be jealous of, I am living in the best country in the world.
Why do Americans think they are disliked?
Actually most people don't really think about it!

And i'm sure us 0zzy's couldn't care less if other countries don't like us, because if they don't they can bugger off and go somewhere else!
Relax, it doesn't matter if someone does or doesn't like you!

They often conduct themselves in a very arrogant and ignorant manner towards people and cultures that are not American. If you disagree with them they call you names and threaten you. They often show no respect for other cultures and they seem to think the rest of the countries of the world should do what is best for the US and not what is best for themselves.

Every nation does bad things to protect their interests, the US has more interests than any other nation, so we do more bad things and get hated more for it. We need to figure out how to do good things to protect our interests.
