I'm an Australian and am appalled about all of those products that reached the Americas, I too have checked every item I have bought to make sure it hasn't had anything to do with China. Unfortunately I made a big mistake and bought an item from 'IKEA' which I thought was supposed to be swedish, I was horrified when I got home and it said from the peoples Republic of China!
I will be returning it !!!

Bah, ignorant Westerners!
Now, I'm a Caucasian American born & raised in the US of A. I'm now proudly living in China (though currently visiting my folks in the US). Believe it or not, all my diet is made in China, and I'm fit as a fiddle. The Chinese life expectancy is as long as it is for Americans. May I also kindly point out that the Chinese have a drastically lower rate of obesity than Americans because they eat healthier types of food. Seems to me that something is wrong if any of you who are criticizing Chinese food contamination scarf down artery clogging "freedom" fries, double-decker hamburgers, and enough Coca-Cola to degrease an engine.
I don't believe some of you! Some of the food is tainted, so you won't buy a futon made in China. Now, there's nothing wrong with the quality of the furniture made in China, generally speaking. It seems to me reactionary and ignorant to boycott *all* Chinese products because of the *food* scares.
With all my heart, I wish China would boycott McDonald's, that is selling these Chinese the slow poison of heart disease happy meals, a people who are traditionally accustomed to a healthy diet. Hey, maybe China should ban all other American imports, too! It'd serve you right!
I tell you this, the people I know in China and even the Chinese I've met in the west are some of the finest people I've ever met. They are hard working people who are sincere, committed friends. A kind of innocence is present in the hearts of Chinese college students that is missing from all but a precious few American students.
cowboydoc: I live in the northeast, and NO they don't eat cat or monkey in that region, and the Koreans are the ones who eat dog the most. Most of the meat dishes are chicken, beef, pork, and occasionally duck & mutton. (Ooooh, how exotic!)

I think it is actually not fair every country in the world has had things go wrong with the foods it exports. While I do agree that we should be wary of the products from China that have been found to be lacking but we should do that in the case of all foods from all countries. Wasn't it a month ago Dole was selling Eboli contaminated lettuce. None of these food companies have fallen short on their food products intentionally, not gonna make much money that way. It does happen from time to time. As far as our meat being bad I'm from Texas, and well maybe we send our crappy stuff out to other countries and keep the good stuff for ourselves, cause the beef here is so much better than what I had while living in England, Germany, France and well I didn't eat anything but Seafood while it Greece and Italy. I think most countries keep the good stuff for themselves and exports whats left to everyone else.

Our Wal-Mart has been quietly taking all Asian food stuffs off the shelves.
I personally called several places, "Stouffers" foods and several others. They admit some of the ingredients come from China, Thailand, parts of Asia but, they were quick to say they were under careful scrutiny, but, they missed 134 products the Government stopped, why?
After seeing the Chinese cook on CNN/Robin on 7/12/07 they were soaking cardboard to soften it, then shredded it to make it look like shredded cabbage and put it in dumplings and spiced it. They told the newsman "no ones going to ask questions as long as it tastes O.K." but how many times have you eaten something and said "Gee, this tastes like cardboard?" maybe it was.
They do eat dog, and cat, other things like monkey, how much of this crap have they been disguising and shipping here. I will not buy anything from any Asian Country again, knowingly.

Of course we are involved in a trade war with china and have been for some time.It doesn't show signs of getting any better either.Blu1hockey more than 95% of chinas population in living in poverty it is a top heavy communist country and like north korea most of their army is only in it for survival since they would not have food to eat if they werent in the military,I dont think we would have to worry about an army like that.

Well it seems China is trumping all you China haters and scared cats.
China has announced a huge crackdown on manufactures of bad exports. Jailing, shutting down, fines, whatever it takes to stop this.
And you think China is trying to get even. No, my dim witted frat boy, dishonest Chinese merchants are trying to make profit, just like in the USA.
---------------------
What most people know of China would fit in a thimble, what most people THINK they know would fit in a barrel.
China is little of what you think it is, and most of what you want it to be.
Peace
Jim

Hahaha!
Of COURSE China will not import your meat, its disgusting! I wouldn't feed American meat to the dog of my worst enemy.
When Clinton was in power, he signed legislation allowing the meat companies to govern themselves, instead of having the health inspectors look at what they were doing. As a result food poisoning rose by a huge amount in America.
Move to somewhere where the meat is untainted.

Oh ya. They know that. But ultimately in the end...who has the more men? China will have millions of men ready with tanks and guns....and believe me....they'll be desperate for wives.
