i give him the full worm treatments on the first day of every month according to his weight and he's still scratching. i have heard of anal glands, what are they? could they have something to do with it?

Yes, they could have something to do with it. His may be impacted. This is not something you want to deal with on your own...take him to a vet, and have them evacuated. Unless you have a strong stomach, you may want to leave the room....it stinks in a way you can't begin to imagine.

It doesn't mean he has worms, there are other reasons, especial when you have him on a regular cycle of wormer. In your case it could very well be his anal glands (sent glands). Normally when he goes number two they are supposed to empty out, however sometimes they don't and you can help him out by squeezing the gland. From personal experience though, i would get my vet to do it if you can afford to since the stuff that comes out looks disgusting and smells even worse. Good luck.
