Cause I play the guitar, but I want to take up the banjo too(but I'm not so good at fingerpicking).

There's no rule that says how you should play. Finger picks and the 3-finger style came about long after the banjo was around. You might come up with something new using a guitar pick, but I can't imagine how you would do better than using finger picks. They're only a few bucks a the music store and you might be surprised at how much better they sound than a single pick. Give it a try.

If you're talking about the 5 string banjo, you could play it with a pick but you won't be able to do anything interesting on it. Give fingerpicking a try. You'll be surprised at how good you'll sound when you play a couple of simple songs from tablature. It's easier than you think.

I've seen people play banjo that way. However, fingerpicking is ever so much cooler on a banjo.

six string banjo is tuned same as a guitar and ler from primus used a pi ck on it give a 6 a try i guess or learn crab hammer tech
