it depends. there is the depo shot, BUT you gain a lot of weight, and most women i know that have tried it report freakish mood swings.
try checking out fewerperiods.com talk to your doctor about reducing the frequency of your period. this way you simply skip the 'off' pill time and then, after a certian amount of time (i cant remember the exact amount of time, either six months or a year or something) you allow your body to have a period, then do it all over again.
while the complete lack of a period 'sounds' good, i dont reccomend it. i dont know about you, but i would worry way too much about getting pregnant if i wasn't getting my period every month.

You never truly completely cycling even on the pills that cause one to not have an outward period. I found this out several years ago from my doctor.

There are several brands where one can stop the period but the problem with taking the pill this way such as Seasonale, etc is that some women's bodies don't tolerate it well and instead they end up having what is called breakthrough bleeding which can act a lot like a menstrual period but isn't.

The first thing that has to be done before anything with choosing a pill is to try and find out what's causing the periods to be so painful for you so that hopefully the problem is one that is easy to fix.

All of the pills will completely stop you getting your period, you just have to keep taking the active pills and not the placebo pills.

I'm on a pill called Monofemme and it is very good. I hardly ever menstruate at all.

Bear in mind that you may not want to stop menstruating completely, because the pill will lessen all the symptoms you have. My period was pretty bad but it became very light and completely painless (really!) when I went on the pill.

If i skip periods for a while, then have one, they are as bad and painful as they always were.

Its called Sesonique. ( sp ).. Its great, but, its cheaper to just take any pill non stop, no breaks. Its all the same doses. You might also look into something called Loestrin. You will have almost no period and it helps the pain, fever has nothing to do with menses ( periods) that is something different. Tell your doctor about it !
