If kids got told about what adult life was *really* like, they'd probably top themselves! Lol.

Life isn't something you can be taught about. You have to live it.
You have to find out, for yourself, there are going to be terrible disappointments, and really bad times. However, there are also going to be moments of joy, and happiness and, if you allow it, contentment. How you decide to approach your life, has more to do with the percentage of each you experience.
That can't be taught. No one can teach you how to deal with disappointment. No one can predict for you what your life is going to be like. You get to make that one up as you go along.
(*smile*) Sometimes that's the best part. You don't know what your life will be like. It's this mystery that stretches in front of you, and you don't know for how long. Grab on to it, and make the best of it that you can. Realize that you can't know what happiness is, unless you experience some misery along the way.

people will belittle teachers over this question? do you honestly think the teachers didn't know exactly what was going on with each student every year?
anyway, i think that school does prepare you for life. it gives you a bunch of work, while learning the material you will only truly remember a fraction. you have to put up with this social hierarchy every day. you learn to deal with humans. you learn how to help them and screw them over. its just a game. school is a nice place to learn, i think.

Since life's constantly changing, it would be pretty difficult to teach you everything you needed to know. I mean, 15 years ago, there wasn't a YA! And what fun would knowing everything be? Part of life is discovery.

That's how you learn from your mistakes and hopefully makes you a stronger person.
Also sometimes they (parents, teachers & friends) try to give you guidance, but sometimes you just don't listen. If your a little older, how many times have you wished "oh I should have stayed in school" or "I should have listned to my parents"?

They do try through those lessons and stories.
Only we like to see the "Lived happily.." endings and not more.
Also , if they do advise, no youngster will listen, pay heed or even understand, don' t u think.....
We All have to learn the lessons in life ourselves.

That is the parent's job. Really, how many teens would actually listen to anyone telling them about life.

Cause there's too many lessons to teach about life and it'll take years before you learn everything.
