Hey what up? I'm a white guy pretty laid back without much problems with anyone. I just moved to a neighbothood with alot of black folks. I'm wanting to be cool and make friends but I'm worried that this community may have a prolem with me being white. I havent got much from my neighborhood leading me to think I'm disliked or liked. Except for one time some rough neck looken dueds started callen me honkey infront the local store but I went over to see what was up and they were cool. So whats up can act normal around black folk without them haven aprolem with me.

Of course not!! Aw come on!! Not all black people are racist, I'll admit, we can be intimidating, but most of us are actually REALLY nice.

I'm black and I have no hate for a particular race AT ALL. Just get to know your neighbors and you will be alright. But if you go in with the mentality that you're going to get hurt or something, then you will build a bridge that will be hard to cross to form a friendship with them. Good Luck!! *u*

No not all Blacks hate Whites like not all Whites hate Blacks etc. When you go someone treat them like an ordinary human being instead of like Black (meaning seeing color first, and you forget their human like you) person and all it's stereotypes And also refrain from saying border line offensive stuff--Some times White people do this when talking to minorities and vice-versa. Remember not all Blacks talk ebonics and listen to gangsta rap and roll on dubs. Be yourself, you may get props for dressing cool and bumping Hip-Hop, but you will get more respect if you act yourself. You don't have to call Blacks, African Americans unless the person ask you. Most of us perfer Black or our names. Really there nothing to do, we're just brown skined, we're still human beings. We like Rock and surfing (yes blacks can swim) like an other teen. Sometimes some people use ebonics because it's comfortable to saying the whole word, it doesn't mean we're stupid or anything. Also sometimes males are just so hormone driven, the guys you had a run in with, may have just wanted to test you, to see how you stand up for yourself . Don't assume all the blacks hate you because you white, I don't assume all wites are racist even though I've been called out my name by whites. Just stand you ground, but show your willing to be on good terms w/ the guys, although you should stay away fro troublemakers no matter what race they are.

First off, let me say that no matter what you should be yourself. If people don't like you for who you really are then they aren't worth being your friends. And never try acting like someone else to fit in, people can see through this and usually comes off looking ridiculous.

Just be friendly to everyone you meet, treat them the way you want to be treated. Yes, unfortunately some black people hate whites, just like some white people hate blacks. But there are also many wonderful open minded people who I'm sure would love to be your friend regardless of your background. Every ethnicity of people has good and bad people, that's why you can't make assumptions or judge others based on their background.

Just be yourself and behave as though the Black folks you encounter are actually fellow whites. You do not need to "be cool", and it may be that your efforts to "be cool" are affecting your behavior so that your behavior is appearing odd and unusual. It rather sounds like you're one of those whites like we have in UK who would never listen to reggae at home but have it booming out of their car stereo while going through a Jamaican neighborhood just to appear "cool". And don't ever start on with the "some of my best friends are ...." garbage.

Inner hatred is not necessarily specific and can just blast at anything and everything. The seeds of hatred can be planted by some particular experience and end up directed at something totally different.

just like any race you have your good and bad. I recently moved into a similar scenero, it's more 50/50 here, but I was wondering how everyone would get along. It turns out we all have stuff in common and have values we can learn from each other. I found that my neighbors who are black (pc?) are very family/friend orientated and they are very welcoming of others and treat us just as family too. Very great experience i've had with my new neighbors. hope your experience with meeting others goes as well as mine!!
