This theory is not true. The Earth is constantly rotating, and revolving around the sun. It is pure fact. if the earth were to just not move even for a short while the magnetation and gravitational pull will be all out of wack. Not to mention the times in the days also be severely altered. You will have a lot of opposing scientists and believers against your theory.

That was the basic idea from the science FICTION novel series, "Ringworld", and it was actually a very good series, considered now to be a classic. Must Reading for all science fiction readers. Aside from that, you can trust that the earth revolves around the sun and itself and that is what makes day and night, and the year with all the seasons. There are no plates. This is not a government conspiracy.
