How to handle him?
I know this guy who is a cop who keeps staring at girls when they enter office and leave office. He is mostly standing below the building or sometimes near the lift of the building. HeSTARES at women so much that they tend to look at him. Then he smiles at them. He is like a stalker. Women get irritated with him. Yesterday one girl shouted at him for STARING at her. He SHOUTED back at her saying that i see THOUSAND FACES in a day. Why would i look at you. It was his mistake and yet he shouted. How to handle such people who are STALKERS and yet DEFEND themselves by SHOUTING.

It's his right. It's everyone's right. I could stare at someone I would be within my rights. Nothing could happen to me unless I invaded their personal space or assaulted them. How do you know he stares at women only anyway? Do you stare at him all day to verify what you are saying? As a police officer he most likely stares at everyone that uses the lift. Maybe he's looking for an escaped convict. It wasn't 'his' mistake for shouting. Your friend shouted first. And ''how to handle him?'' Are you joking me? How do you handle a cop? Hmm by doing what they tell you and not cause trouble.

Misandrist above, yea you'd like that huh? A male officer losing his job? Great misandry there.

Someone should video tape him staring at the Women and give it to his Sargent. Maybe the Sargent would be able to make heads or tails as to what his Officer is doing during working hours. It may not be the "beat" he's suppose to be on. Unless he's doing some type of undercover assignment, which, I strongly doubt because, undercover officers don't make themselves look too conspicuous, like him.

As I said, video tape him and leave it up to his Sargent and if his Sargent can't do anything, then take it to the Police Chief, he/she will resolve it. And if neither does anything about it? Take the video to the News stations, they would love to write a story on that. And just think, tax dollars is paying for an Officer to stare at Women, like a Stalker or a Pervert.

Some people don't have that little brain trigger which tells them 'enough'. Being a policeman doesn't give him the right to make others (apparently women only ) feel uncomfortable. And his shouting upon being called on this habit, shows that he knows it's something he shouldn't do. The women in the office need to speak with the office manager. The manager then should speak to this person to explain that he is bothering the women, and ask him to stop. If he does not stop, then his superiors should be informed.
These women are being made to feel unsafe. It is part of their manager's job to ensure safety in the workplace.

Hum has any one here who has answered this question heard of leering laws? OK folks it dose exist and it if a cop finds you doing so for a period of about 3 minits will arrest you for it. well in some states any why. I'm not saying i agree totally with it but it is a law and there for has to be followed or pay the price.

Never been a Cop, have You? I wonder why You did not lodge Your question in "Law Enforcement". Most people are far too ignorant of the rationale to realise that there is a method to the madnesses that You see each day. When You "stare' at someone You pick up subliminal nuances that are not notice at a 'glance'. This is especially true if You are dealing with members of a different ethnic group or with those who are in disguise, or make-up. But then You already knew that, didn't You? Now go and cause trouble elsewhere.

The man just likes what he sees and he's bored so he might as well stare. As for the girl who starts "shouting" at the guy, she was dumb as heck. Disturbing as it may be, most situations can be dealt with maturity and a little humour and shouldn't neccessary involve you yelling at people who may find you attractive enough to stare at you. For example, when walking close to him, say something in the lines of, "you know, if you stare long enough you just might burn a hole through my dress". You don't have to take everything so damn seriously.

Secondly, if you are feeling confident with yourself a little staring shouldn't really unnerve you as such.

I dunno. If you think it's sexual harassment, then tell his superiors, like another respondent said. So he's like trying to half-hide-out and then eye up all the women? What a weirdo. You can just say, "I find it uncomfortable that this cop tries to half-hide himself, or stand in a place no one normally stands where people are less likely to notice him, and then stare at people, whether men or women. It's uncomfortable and disturbing."

He's a jerk, his behaviour is typical of alot of men who like to check out women but think they are better than them.
Take action by reporting him to his superiors and filing a complaint.
