It sounds like it could be a computer problem. If that's the case I wouldn't touch it. I'd let someone who knows more about the electrical system and computer work on it, and that could very well be a friend with some automotive expertise.
You could check your fuses and circuit breakers, but it doesn't really sound like that's your problem.
It is also very possible you may have a weak alternator. Often when the alternator is in the process of going out it will perform sporadically. You will usually notice some weird things happening with your lights and such. This is likely to be the cheapest thing you might have to replace. If it were just weak taking the positive cable off wouldn't cause the engine to die.
I would have the alternator tested. Autozone or any other auto parts store should be able to do that for you. Replacing the alternator could fix your problem.
You sound like an extremely car-savvy female. Good luck and I hope the fix is cheap.

Sounds Like you have a bad negative ground somewhere... that's the cheap fix. Replace the Negative (black) battery cable. Should be around 30 bucks... if that doesn't work, then you probably need to see if you have a friend that has a diagnostic code reader and see if they can get a reading off the car. Should sorta work even if the car won't start. If that's not it, only other thing I can think of is that you possibly have a bad ECM. That's the brain box of the car's computer. Could be giving bad signals and such... Acura is Legendary for those going out, just like Mistubishi...

The the very first thing to appear for is a "investigate engine" gentle. The laptop for your auto screens many techniques, and if it detects a hindrance, may be very useful in finding the hindrance. A hindrance like that may be signal of some thing as functional as a flooring hindrance (wiring) or an digital module. Some module disorders are susceptible to exhibit up founded on warmness, wherein they are able to fail wherein scorching, then act frequently after the module cools. This type of hindrance will also be complex to discover. If you're looking to keep a $, you're more likely to get a tech who will wager on the rationale, and can most probably fee you extra $ than is vital by way of guessing and throwing constituents at it. There will have to be no guessing in prognosis. When you name round for a fix store, ask if they've a "drivability" educated. It would possibly fee you extra according to hour, however much less sooner or later, seeing that an ASE L1 (complicated drivability) tech will discover the supply of the hindrance instead than wager at it. To turn out to be an L1, a tech need to first go eight usual approach exams, after which take a instead complex experiment that proves they've an overly thorough running advantage of electric techniques. There are simplest three within the county I paintings in, I realize the opposite 2. You will get monetary savings by way of discovering one on this case.

If it's just stopped dead and doesn't respond at all when you key it in, check your fuses. Fuses often need replacing and are cheap enough. Often if you are keeping up your fluids, problems are sometimes very simple... AND, you DO need to have it checked from time to time, and if you can't afford that keep looking around until you find someone who WILL do it...

your battery needs to be adjusted happened to me too. the battery is loose and when you drive it bounces around so it doesn't make full contact all the time, so the power in the car goes crazy.
