Sure, it was done over 30 years ago. Problem was that the power required to produce the air pressure was more than what was required to run the vehicle. IE: takes 20 hp to produce 14hp. not a good return. If you think about it the internal combustion motor runs on compressed air, just a lot more than you are thinking about and it is not very efficient

I thought about this long ago, wondering if compressed air could be used to push the pistons on a internal combustion engine. Apparently it is possible because there have been several companies doing it.

that show had alot of stupid points to it dont even think about a car that self generate air pressure EVERY machine in the world does not have 100% efficiency and it would eventually be forced to be charged by a more stable unit. and besides its ALOT of pressure to start moving 1000lb of weight.

yes. CNG is compressed gas and u can get CNG engines installed in cars. very pollution free gas. Maruti is offering its Wagon-R with CNG engive too.
