I'm 14 years old and my parents never sexually inform me about anything!! The only thing my mom told me about was my period. I didn't even know anything about breaking the hymen until recently. I only found out by looking through the women's health in yahoo answers. I'm not really asking a question. I just want you to agree with me on how bad my parents are. Did your parents do this to you? Did you have to find out on you own? I believe that some things a parent need to tell their child. I would be thinking something was wrong with me if I had my first time and I started bleeding. OMG!!!

Is there anything else I need to know about, since I have to depend on yahoo to answer my questions????
I already know about breaking the hymen and my period.

It's not about me having sex. So please don't say you're too young and shouldn't be doing it, because i'm not doing it. I just want to know about everything there is to know so I can be ready when I have my first time.
Thanks!!!

I found out about sex from Health Class in elementary school (fifth and sixth grade). It beat the awkwardness of having my parents tell me about a penis and vagina and sperm and ejaculation and all that embarrassing stuff.

My mom and I talked about menstruation.

Your parents are not bad.

My parents were the same, especially in a Hispanic household where that subject was completely taboo. I cant really say that your parents are bad for not saying anything to you, the way I look at it, if I would have been well informed and had the knowledge of how to have sex, I could have ended up a teen father or had an STD. They did not have a problem with me participating in an sex-ed class and I learned enough in there to quell immature curiosity.

I did not have the Internet to access these things growing up, and given your age now, you start to find things out and put the pieces together.

Continue to search the net or visit health sites where they devote their time to this topic, there are many sites that cater strictly to the teen aspect of these types of questions. If you really want to, you can visit a clinic that specializes in this type of behavior, i.e. Planned Parenthood, and speak with a person or ask for info pertaining to this.

I agree with you. Your parents ARE bad & set a poor example. You are 1 of many curious girls in puberty who are naturally interested in the dynamics of sex. It's sad when a girl has to discover fundamentals from a pc rather than by personal conversation with a human. It reflects a failed, dysfunctional society with poor communication skills & disoriented priorities. 1 fact is clear KF ; you cannot EDUCATE yourself from this forum. You will receive impersonal OPINIONS, which may be correct & helpful or incorrect & harmful. It is still a gamble girl.

The only advice I had from my Mom. Was sex is dirty and horrible. She never even informed me about my period or anything. It is a shame that sex is something not spoken about between some parents and children. Rather we learn from others and not all the time is that information we receive beneficial.

don't worry, i didn't have the talk either. just don't listen to most of the things your friends have to say about sex because they're probably wrong. once you get to that point, i'm sure you'll know more about it anyway so i'll leave it at that.
