y = mx + b

3 = -2(0) + b

3 = b

y = -2x + 3

Sounds like point-slope or intercept form to me!

y=mx+b we just read off m=-2 and b=3, so
y=-2x+3

You can get the same answer from point-slope by
y-3 = -2(x-0)

y= mx + b use x=2 y=1 and m=3 in the equation to solve for b 1=3(2)+b so b = -5 so the equation in the form requested is y = 3x-5 remember that the slope and the y-intercept are CONSTANT in a linear equation, and any point with coordinates (x,y) that lies on the line must satisfy its equation

Wow - you better get on that studying....

-2 = m = the slope
(0,3) is the y-intercept where the line crosses the y-axis.
y at that point = 3 = b

y = mx + b
y = (-2)x + 3
y= -2x +3

With these problem use the point- slope formula

Given:
m=-2
P(0,-3)

point slope formula:
y-y1=m(x-x1)
where x1 and y1 are the point coordinates

By direct substitution
y-3=-2(x-0)
y-3=-2x
y=-2x+3

EASY!!

Sammi this ur 4th similar question...
these r very simple questions, please try them by yourself at least once. u will understand how to do it ... but first try to solve them urself. Maths is learnt best by practice than anything else.
