internal is inside your computer and can be change to other computers when taken out. to cut the hassle, external uses USB. it is most common and portable.

An internal hard drive plugs directly into your computer's main board (also called a motherboard) and is installed inside the computer's case.

An external hard drive plugs into a spare USB port and sits in a case outside of your computer. The idea here is that you can simply unplug the drive and take your data with you.

Hope this helps!

an external hardrive is a drive that usb connectivity. usb is universal serial bus.its the same port where you plug in usb data sticks, thumb drive,

basically external harddrive is similar to data disk thumb drives and all those storage devices. but an external harddrive has atleast 40gb - a maximum of 300gb of disk space as compared to thumb drives and data sticks

Technically the inner HDD is IDE/SATA/PATA where as external is a USB Hard Drive. It is connected through USB port.
