in the lower left hand corner of my computer, there is some spyware that has installed itelf as a 'fake spyware alert'. i know it is spyware bc it looks similar to an icon i already have and it keeps bombarding me to download antispyware from the internet that GIVES ME MORE VIRUSES!!!-_-;;;

i have spybot search and destroy, and so far it has taken out all the other spyware EXCEPT for this particular icon.

HOW DO I GET RID OF IT WITHOUT RESETTING THE WHOLE SYSTEM?

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!ASAP!!!!

You need something more powerful than Spybot.
Try the 15 day free trial of CounterSpy, it should do the job.
Unlike anti-virus, you can have more than 1 anti-spyware program on your system,

The best software that I've found for removing spyware is adaware. Just go to www.adaware.com. Their free version of the software has always done the job for me.

If that doesn't work, go into the control panel, add/remove programs and look for the program that is running. Sometimes that doesn't work even if you find it because windows won't uninstall it while it's running.

If all else fails, Windows XP and later has a system restore that reverts the system to the way it was on a specific date. You might be able to revert back to the day before the spyware was installed.

It can be found in the start menu under
Programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore
