What does the word "stooge" mean? I think that it's a funny sounding word and I'm not really sure what it means.

The correct answer is generally defined as "a person that is under the control of another or a comedian, represents another. Stooge can also sometimes be used to mean "Idiot".

an old vaudeville term for foil or gag man....the guy who was the butt of and creator of slapstick style jokes thus the 3 stooges were a vaudeville act that played in the newsreels
