Most employers don't much care when you started university; all they want to know is when you are finishing. I think that if asked, I would say that I had some personal difficulties, which have since been completely resolved. Obviously, if they ask to see your transcripts, you can't hide your academic difficulties, but a poor record early in your academic career can be due to all kinds of things, from immaturity to depression, and doesn't necessarily impact your capabilities later on.
