Just started this. I'm having a problem understanding some of the questions because the spelling is so bad. What the person is asking can't be answered if no one understands the question. Rather, I can't understand & answer. Guess I'm just new to this.

Wouldn't that be nice.

Who votes for a spelling / grammar test before you can post questions???

You are correct. Some are just lazy and others are trying to be clever, but all they show is their ignorance.

I to have problems understanding what the questions for two reasons:

1. Poorly written it is so hard to believe these people went to school.

2. Not enough detail to figure out what they are trying to ask.

3. I just skip them and go on and hope I am able to find a question that is interesting and hasn't been asked every day.

There are a lot of people who make use of this site just to fool around. Trying to show others how clever they are. They have that right, I guess. So if you have an IQ lower than room temperature you may ask a question. If you have an IQ above a humans normal body temp you may ask a question also.

Don't know exactly where I fit in?

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to understand for months how people can feel any sort of dignity with the way they spell, capitalize, punctuate, and ignore simple grammar in this forum. I am seriously beginning to think people are just stupid. Be advised, however, that calling them on it will only get them pissed off. The stupid ones generally have the least tolerance for being informed that they are so. I fear for the day when most ppl r 2 stoopid 2 no how 2 ask a ?.

Yes not only that people should ask questions that we can understand. Like this one person that ask a question that i answered look it up under my name it is so dumb it's funny. Some people must not have computers that have a button that says (check spelling). The guy says something about his son riding on his something I'm not really sure but it was funny.

A good knowledge of spelling and grammar does help others to understand the question being asked. There's many questions I've seem that just seem...stupid...when in fact they could possibly be worthwhile questions if just spelled and worded correctly.

Oh yeah - I vote for a spelling and grammar test!!! (Especially since there is a built in spell checker in the answer section - if you type something wrong a red line appears under it...) Um, would it be too much to throw in an intelligence test, too (since the spell check feature is already built into the system - you just have to be smart enough to use it!)

hundred percent correct spelling would be perfect.
I don't mind some mistakes in spelling specially when i find an interesting question. mine are also bad specially when i don't give a spell check.
after all, all participants are not English speaking... there are Germans, Frenches, Americans etc.
in spite of some imperfection, it is a perfect space to share ideas.
being all the time perfect is strenuous.

One needs to learn to THINK before posting a question or an answer.
There are "a few" questions and answers here asked by complete morons (some of them even spelled correctly...)

Well, no.. sometimes I'm not sure how to spell things so I just guess. HOWEVER, I think spell check should be mandatory. Like, it should do it when you preview the question or something. As much as we all hate it, I think you're just going to have to get used to it. Oh, brush up on your Ebonics too...

Yes. What's worse is when people start tawkin lik dis, lik dey r txting or their tryin 2 b gangsta. Spell check is right above the answer box...but as long as you understand the question, some typos are okay.

Hey, Newbie! Yes, you will see typos galore and usually it's due to youth or a limited knowledge of the English language. Spellcheck means little here to most people. Personally, I am a perfectionist and I am one to proof all my stuff and edit with more antecdotes and weird tangents. Then again, I am a SAHM with a lot of time on my hands. Just get used to it and move on!
