Either way, having a lease assumes the mail box as well. Go ask & get the keys back.

I suggest two things. Talk with the mailman and see what can be done like new keys or get a post office box and the hell with the landlord.

It's a Federal affiance for him to open the mail box if you are leasing it.

ask for them back. if he wont give them back, then go to post office and rent a p.o. box (they are not expensive) and forward all ur mail to ur box.
