Fire sale? Shake up the lineup? A strategic trade?
Assuming it was your call to make, what would you do?

Tommy, I think they've gone on long enough pretending like there isnt a problem. They need action, and they need it fast....10.5 games back in a very competitive NL West.

Give it time. The kinks will work themselves out and there will be less pressure and focus on them after Bonds hits 756

Barry Zito has historically been stronger after the All-Star break and Matt Cain figures to pitch with better luck. Tim Lincecum should also keep improving. On the bad side, Omar Vizquel has shown his age at the plate, Ray Durham no longer hits for average and Barry Bonds will soon be 43 years old. The Giants should get what they can for Vizquel and Durham. CF Freddie Lewis should be brought up from the minors immediately and replace Dave Roberts who has been just horrible. When the season ends, wholesale changes are in order.

Fire sale. The Giants are the oldest team in the league, and Cain and Lincecum are your guys to take a shot with in the near future. They have the cash to keep them. Dump Bonds after this year, pray for Zito to become above average again, and get rid of every player over 35 before next season is over. If those things don't happen, I wouldn't expect the Giants to contend...brace yourself. The next season or two will be rough.

They have some decent young pitching that should develop over the next few years, but Giants fans are going to have to concede that they are just not a championship team. It would be a real long shot to make the playoffs this year and if they did they wouldn't go deep into the playoffs.

At this point, the Giants owners and management is thinking of only one thing.

"How much money can we possibly make from having Bonds break records while playing for our team?"

Winning is second right now... the money that they're making off of Bonds right now is what is important to them. Once Bonds breaks the record, and all of the fan fare is behind them, I think they'll finally start trying to field a winning team.

They need a serious transfusion of new blood. This season is gone. There are just too many teams ahead of them to even make the wild card. They can't unload Bonds' huge salary so they are hurting. They need the cash to fuel a youth movement.

Pray Bonds get his HR record and 3000th hit before the season ends. It's your only hope. :-)

yea... but its just 1 game. i dont expect anything from the giants anymore this year. just let bonds break the record and begin the post bonds era. hope we can get a good bat. hope for more draft picks and actually draft position players this time instead of HS pitchers, like we dont have enough pitchers already. even if we have a fire sale, who would want our crappy players anyway? only guys with any morsel of value is lowry and morris since cain and lincecum are untouchable.
