I have seen that done too. My family does not play board games, primarily due to their intense competition. Either they get mad when they lose or they really rub it in your face when they win. If the game gets intense or luck suddenly changes, it frustrates the player.
For me, I just like playing the games. I don't care whether I win or lose (that goes for gambling games also-needless to say, I only bet pocket change). If a player had exceptionally good luck or performed a great strategy, I compliment that person and try and remember what he or she did so I can use that strategy in the future.

Some people are super competitive. No game is ever a game, but a kind of mini-war and if they lose, they will let you know they didn't like it. Fortunately, your cousins are in a minority as most people can play, lose and say "Hey, I had fun." Just don't play with anyone who takes it much more seriously than you do.

Well, board games bring out people's competitive side, and that can make things heated- my boyfriend and I like to joke that the only time we ever fight is when we are playing Scrabble.

To quote Chief Wiggum on "The Simpsons," "How do those Parker Brothers sleep at night?" The solution is to play with people who don't take the game so seriously.

i know exactly what you mean, i have a cousin who when they loose a game of cards they start freaking out and yelling and they throw all the cards everywhere, some people are just too competitive, but the worst thing to do is make fun of them or yell at them when they're mad like that, just let them vent, but don't let them get too destructive
