I've melted the carpet in my boyfriend's house in a pretty big way. He's away this weekend, out of mobile range, and I don't know what I'm going to say when he gets back tomorrow! The house stinks too??? Any sage advise on what to say/do other than hide?

Meet him outside and be honest, the carpet is most probably covered by insurance.
No one has died and it can be replaced.
If he is any good he will hug you and ask if you are ok.

Be honest, be truthful, apologize (but not too much) and offer to help repair/ replace the carpet. Even if it means paying it off in installments.

You could try contacting a professional to see if he can cut out the melted section and fit in a new piece. It'll never be perfect as age, wear and dirt will have already changed the colour of the carpet, but it'll blend in with time. OR buy a big rug to put over it, a bottle of whiskey to distract him and hope he'll never hoover under the rug!

Take a sample to a carpet store, get as close to a match as you can (assuming that he does not already have any swatches left over if he put the carpet in), then get a swatch a little bigger than the area that you destroyed, cut out the old, put in the new (always put a little larger piece in, than what you take out as that will help cover up the lines. As for the smell...cook something to the point of burning it, make sure that it is available to see when he gets home, apoligize for trying to make him something special for dinner and ruining it, then go out and have dinner somewhere nice !

Ow! Well, hiding wouldn't work for long, so toss that one out. Honesty, humility, and a promise to pay all damages is all you really can do at this point.

For odor, a $10 can of premium concentrated "Citrus Magic" (sold by auto stores) is excellent for getting most of the odor out. "Valley Fresh", if you can find it, is okay, too.

Okay, the curiosity is killing me. How did you melt his carpet?

How on earth did you MELT a carpet? Did you iron on a nylong carpet? I think as you damaged his carpet either you get him to claim on house insurance or else go and buy him a new one!!!!!

Just be honest! If you're going to get in trouble, get in trouble for what you actually did and not because you lied about it. That will end up being even worse. Just accept the fact that he's going to be pissed and quit worrying!

why are you scared? if he's your b/f surely he will forgive you. if not then dump the tosser. if you offer to replace it then whats the harm? unless you were being naughty while he was away..........last summer i accidently broke my ex's next door neighbours shed window with a cricket ball. it was f*cking embarrassing but he bought new glass and fixed it and the neighbours still dont know. thats what boyfriends should be like x

try to get an air freshener with the fresh linen scent and get the smell out of the furniture, possibly rearrange the furniture or fug to not show the melted spot

If you can replace the carpet & if you can't prepare your mind to accept his reactions. He's going to be angry which ever way you tell him.
