Love, Love LOVE the name Layla. It's gorgeous, plus I love the song.
Callie is pretty but not one of my faves.
Don't go much on Desdemona. I'd prefer Desire with the nickname Desi.

I think it is awesome that you picked names that actually have a meaning to you...I like Layla best; however, right now, there is a song out there about 'Layla' (I don't know if the spelling is the same), and I am sure, there will be a LOT of Layla-births this year.
Pick Desdemona, she will not like it at one point (then again, no matter what name you choose, the question: why did you call me ..., mom, will come up, guaranteed!) 'cause it is so different but she will come to love it exactly for that reason.

I have ALWAYS thought Desdemona was a beautiful name! I would personally not use Dezzie as the nickname, but rather Mona.
Layla is cute but do you want the name of a song for your little girl? My sister's first name is Eileen and SHE HATES it because of the song "Come on Eileen".
Callie is cute but if you're looking for names that mean Beauty, Beautiful or similar there are better ones out there! Adara (virgin, beauty, noble), Calidora (gift of beauty), Laila (night beauty), Thalia (goddesses of beauty and charm), Zaina (beauty).
Thought maybe this would help, I'm having a hard time too and I thought these were nice!! : )

I love Callie, but I would spell it Kali.
Not crazy about Desdemona because of the nickname Dezzie.
Layla isn't bad, but she might get the nickname Lay.
Kali would be my favorite.

Desdemona - too much, over the top.
Layla - lovely, a little trendy of a spelling, I prefer Leila (LEE-luh) or Lila
Callie - very nice, a little nicknamey, I would use a full name with this as a nickname. Calla, Calanthe, Callista or something like that.
