Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have a good series of thrillers. The first book is Relic, which is a really good read.

You might also enjoy Peeps by Scott Westerfeld, which is an interesting take on vampires.

Anything by Stephen King-The Shining and Carrie were my favorites.

The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty

Depending on how old you are, you might enjoy the Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan

Also depending on how old you are, you might like the Demonta series by Darren Shan

Dean Koontz is a great suspense novelist. Try The Good Guy.

James Patterson is also very good with suspense and crime novels. He might not be what you're looking for, but I enjoy his work very much. Try See How They Run (also published as The Jericho Commandment); Mary, Mary; The Women's Murder Club series-1st To Die, 2nd Chance, 3rd Degree, 4th of July, The 5th Horseman.

Just One Look by Harlan Coben

Hope that helps.

Have you tried the usual suspects first? You know, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz....

Oh-you'll like King's Eyes of the Dragon if you're all about Harry Potter. It's part fantasy and part horror and all the way live. It's definately one of my all time favorite books.

Have you read Edgar Allan Poe's "The Complete Stories", a hardcover published by Alfred A. Knopf (New York & London) in the Everyman's Library series. Some stories I read during my college years still horrify me when I reread them such as "The Tell-Tale Heart", The Pit and the Pendulum", The Purloined Letter", The Gold-Bug", etc.

The original Dracula is spectacular and if you really want to get scared out of your mind, read The Shining by Stephen King.
