Someone was telling me that it is not legal to accept money from a person who is just renting for a one week vacation and give it to the owner of the property without having a real estate license. Is this true? where might I be able to find info on this to proove this to him. I don't think that you have to.

It may depend on the state, but I don't think that is true. In most states, property managers do not have to be licensed realtors, but you should double check with your states Real Estate Comission or a local property management company to be sure.
Some states do require property managers to get a real estate license, but if you are accepting money on behalf of the property owner for just one week don't worry about it.
Now, if you are accpeting compensation for this work you may want to be careful. That is where the line can get fuzzy depending on your state.
