When I moved to GA from MI people told me that I have an accent! HA...I love the southern accent...especially from cute men!! And little kids sound so cute with the accent!

Its part of who you are, never hate it! It makes each person unique. Imagine how boring it would be if everyone sounded the same......

I am from the New England and I find the southern accent charming. I have run into people who have such a strong accent that it can be difficult to understand. But overall, it is a nice change from what I hear up here.

I don't like them more or less than any other accent. I know some people outside the South look down on them, as if it connotes ignorant and lack of book learnin'. I disagree with that point of view.

I've lived in the South 20 years now in a major urban area. I hear accents from all over, regional and international. All of them are music to me.

I love southern accents! Well maybe i am biased because I am from the south, my accent is kinda southern belle like Blanch from the golden girls and a little back-wood. But I think southern accents on guys are sooo sexy especially New Orleans accents and the coast like Charleston SC . . .mmm mmm good!

My accent is also Southern. It's a mixture of the hills of Tennessee and the slow deep Georgia accent.

I understand what you're asserting. I easily have a southern accessory, even nevertheless it has dwindled for the reason that i've got been removed from the South for 30 years. The irony is that the comparable people who regard the southern accessory as an illustration of low intelligence are the individuals who exalt something French as tres stylish. they don't understand that our accessory and our expressions come today from the French who settled the Deep South interior the pre-colonial era. in basic terms show satisfaction on your background and pass away the ignorant to their lack of expertise. To: MJ Y'all is a manner of indicating a pluralization of you. Languages alongside with French, Spanish, German, etc. have distinctive phrases for you singular and you plural. English is the only Indo-eu Germanic language that lost its inflections, i.e., the ending that distinguishes variety in a pronoun and the accompanying verb.

The accent resulted from the close association of household slaves and the children of southern aristocrats. Many white southerners refuse to believe this to be the case but it is verifiable.
To northerners, the southern "drawl" sounds uneducated.

I don't think it's bad. Some of the smartest people can have the worst accent. It's not a bad thing. I live in Texas too, and I have a accent, or so people tell me. It ain't a big deal, but people treat us like we're stupid.
