Is it true that in some states, it's illegal to be in a relationship with a person of another race? And wouldn't that be against the constitution!?!?! How in the world would states be able to do that, no matter how conservative?

No, it's not true. Your information is several decades out of date.

Once upon a time (and not very long ago), many American cities and states drew up lines like that, especially inside their culture.

Today, if there is any law in existence, I would be quite sure we would be reading about the lawsuits acted by the ACLU. I haven't heard of a suit like that in a long time.

Yes, some states still have those laws on the books.

However, you are also correct that those laws are unconstitutional and cannot enforced. Not since the 1960s and a case called Loving v. Virginia.

It was true many years ago, but it is no longer true. They did used to have laws against miscegenation between whites and blacks, but those laws have been repealed for many years.
