the way things are going eventually the gov't will run us off the cliff. but the problem with most americans is they're like zombies, i mean they know were on the brink of disaster on all cylinders n no one will budge an inch to make the right changes. why after all these years didnt they impeach bush yet? yeah i know what youre talking about and im worried about everything. like will we one day be livin like cave men? or will there be a battle here? troubling times we live in. But oh well who cares right? no one does. thats sad

The foreseeble future of the USA really doesn't look too good. Other than incompetent government (hopefully this will change, although I am not too optimistic), all problems can be traced to 2 issues: cost of living and poor education.
Cost of living among other things largerly depends on taxes and healthcare expenses. Socialist system in a sense of redistributing wealth would be actually a bad approach. We would be better off if we could match low tax rates of countries such as China and Russia.
The problem with healthcare is that it's just too expensive and must get cheaper. If universal care does the trick, as it seems to do throughout the world, so be it.
Better education could be the way to save the US. Afterall, it is the major edge that many countries have over the US. To a certain degree, the problem is culture, although I can't really pinpoint why primary education is so much better (and cheaper to the society) in so many places in the world.

Your peoples, your country, has already been sold to the bankers with the war in Iraq... The bankers wish the whole USA to become a socialist state, just because in such state, the invidual taxes are much higher. And since because of your IRS, most of your taxes already go in the pockets of your bankers, such taxe increases will boost their wallet pretty much thank you!!
So, the trend is there, and it will happen in a way of another! At the next terrorist attack, peoples will ask their government (A.K.A banks) to protect them... In this directed moves, it will open the door to socialism (intervention of the state), and new police state measures will ''recomfort'' peoples at first, until they wake up and understand that they put themselve in prison (enslaved). So, what do you prefer? If we do have choices...

It is already heading that way now. This nation has a huge number of citizens drawing off of its wellfare programs and looking to the government to cure all of their problems, instead of getting off their @$$ and doing something themselves. Lets all suck eggs with the grants given to "disadvantaged" applicants that want to start a business because they are ethnically not anglo. Here is a big tip, we all wwere born into this world and there isn't a guarantee that someone is going to give you anything. All the taxes people pay and yet we get nothing really in return. I honestly believe in being totally self sufficient, and I wish that Uncle Sam would leave me the hell alone personally and quit getting involved in the lives of it's citizens.

Lest you forget, it was the craftsmen, squeezed out by mass production in the early part of the 20th that led to the popular support of non-democratic regimes.
Just as before, a shift in paradigm is what is required of the people. You can't expect the human race to continue on into a 'future' doing the same old thing, the same old way.

The problem is liberalism and the very socialism you mention. If the liberal Democrats take over, however, in a misguided attempt to better things, we're doomed for certain.

universal health care? you want to really break this country dont you? let me tell you something honey. there is no such thing as a right to health care. if you can afford it, you have a right to it. if you have a problem with making money, thats your choice. let the rest of us work. you do have a point about jobs leaving america, but you can blame that on the unions.

Definitely, but the U.S.A. will have to change its name when they open the borders for the Trans-American Highway.
