All you have to do is re-register to vote. If you register independent (or non-affiliated voter) you should not receive any mail from either party. The mail usually doesn't come out of the party office, but the campaign headquarters. Calling the GOP office might get you off their list, but every campaign has a list of its own.

The republican party has a voter file (list of all registered voters) that is amazing. They actually have the registration history computerized for all registered voters. If you were a Green Party member for 2 weeks 10 years ago, they know it! They also know what addresses you have registered at and how often you voted at those addresses. All parties have voter files that show how often you have voted in the last few (at least 4) elections.

Re-registering to vote will not get you off the lists you are currently on, but it will help stop other republicans from adding you to their list. The different departments within the campaign may even have you on multiple lists. There is no sure-fire way to get away from the mail you are receiving.

Your vote is supposed to be confidential. There is not supposed to be a record of who you vote for, so voting for the "other guy" is not going to help you with the lit pieces.

oh yeah ~ unless you want email and phone calls, do not put your email address or phone number on your voter registration card!

If you have a record of gop voting, then your record will change when you vote another party or indep. If you are getting Republican junk mail, you can write refused on the front and give it back to the mail carrier. For the spam, there should be a way to unsubscribe on the home page. Best of luck to you!!

Just Re-Register to vote under the
Party of your choice. You will be removed as a Republican.
Also, when you get the junk mail, it
usually has free return postage, so
write them a note that you are disgusted
the the GOP, and have changed to a
??????????? now.

Go figure. I'm on the Dem's mailing list, and I get their surveys.
As a registered Libertarian, I have a great time answering the questions and messing with their heads.

Reverse your thinking, you get to see the information that they are putting out to their "base". And, who knows, if you read it, you may get a different point of view than what you see or hear by just watching the broadcast news or public radio. At least, you will be more educated about what they are doing.

if you're signed up with the local party... I think you can just ask them to take you off their roles... at the local Republican headquarters

but if you're on a bunch of internet Republican groups... you would have to ask each group individually...

basically ask what ever group is sending you these items to stop...
