I have the free version of avg, but my computer is taking ages to load pages on and off-line. I'm on dial-up, but even this can not account for the phenomenally sluggish pace of my computer activity. I suspect foul play.

Use Adaware 2007 and Spybot S&D. Use mozilla firefox for your browser. If you use Internet Explorer then you definitely have spyware

try to add some memory to your computer. and change your Internet try using a faster connection.
