The cons have made a big deal about the new "conservative Supreme Court" and inform us Bush's "legacy will "last a generation.

As of now, the Court is split 5-4--and no more conservative justices are going toget in for at least 5 years--that should be obvious to even them.

Scaliea--current tenure:21 years
Kennedy--current tenure--19 years
Thomas--current tenure--16 years

If any one of these retires--the alance tips back to the moderate/liberal

Now--what do you figure the odds are that's going to happen?

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. You think the election is sewn up? We're more than a year away from the election and anything can happen. Just because the Dems are in power doesn't mean a conservative cannot be approved. Remember, Scalia was approved with 97 votes and, yes, most Democrats voted for him.

Roberts wasn't made chief justice because he's liberal. And remember former Chief Justice Rehnquist was practically highly medicated towards the end so I have to disagree. Part of being a 2 term president means you get to influence everything for a long time and that is why it is so important to get your party that 2nd term.

They have already de-volved with affirmative action, so they will keep rolling everything back and I predict on here that Sc alia and Kennedy who are idealogues, not objective intellectuals, will give the Bushes whatever they want regarding any Supreme Court test of executive privilige, they did in 2000 and they will do it again.

Not likely, here is why, the radicals in the democratic party will most likely nominate Hillary. Ok no big deal right, until you consider how many people will vote against here just to make sure a woman is not elected. Not to be sexist but old people tend to vote way more than young people and well if my grandparents espicially my Grandpa are any indicater they hate change. Secondly she has so many skeletons in her closet that there is no way she can create a defense for them all.

I care more about whether the Constitution is being followed than political leanings.

Of all the things you're concerning yourself with THIS is it? Sitting around and waiting and hoping for a conservative judge on the US Supreme Court to retire in hopes that a more liberal judge takes his place? Wow.......

odds are bad, because they'll keep them in there even if they have to hook em up to life support, and write their opinions for them.
