"Are contestants allowed to have cosmetic surgery?

A: Although contestants are discouraged from altering their own natural beauty, no restrictions are placed on cosmetic surgery; it is impossible to enforce such a rule. In fact, since 1990 the organization has allowed the use of padding in an effort to discourage participants from permanently altering their bodies for the competition. "

Pageants are competitive events.

There is a certain amount of legal enhancements that are available to the contestants- makeup, hair dye, designer dresses, talent coaches, tanning booths. . . . .

If Plastic surgery has not been outlawed by the pageant officials, then it may be used by the contestants as a competitive tool. The quote above from Miss USA admits that it is impossible to regulate plastic surgery use - so they do not.

I want a nose job. I hate my nose. However, I am what I am and I will always have my insecurities. I think if I was to change something. I'd just end up unhappy about something else and would forever be chasing perfection. I can understand why people have plastic surgery sometimes and if it works for them then it's fine. I just think it's who I am and I was made this way. If other people can accept me then I should.
