I have been trying to retrive my start button to pull up the taskbar menu. Can someone please tell me what to do? I already tried F11 and also tried pressing the windows key next to the alt button, nothing worked.

when this happened to me i just opened up display setting and changed one setting then put it back to original (ie background wallpaper then hit ok
then my toolbar magically reappeared
dont know why it has happened twice now

It sounds like the task bar has been set yo hide itself.
Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to see if it brings up the taskbar.
If not, it is possible it has also been moved to another side of the screen. Move the mouse to the left, right and top edges of the screen too.
If you wnat it back permanently, bring it up by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen then right click on the taskbar and click on properties. there should be a autohide taskbar, make sure that this is not checked.

Further to abi's suggestion, you could also try holding down the Windows key and pressing the Tab key.

try by pressing both control (Ctrl) and Escape (Esc) button together.
