My parents wont let me go 2 cuba?

My grandparents might go sometime in the fall and i really want to go. But my parents wont let me! I want to see like where my family came from and all that stuff. But i am not allowed to go, what should i tell my parents :(

the thing is that i dont want my grandparents to die before i get to go with them!

We have a couple of problems here...

1) Unless you really want to piss your parents off you should listen to them -- they don't want you to go you don't go (if you go without their permission and knowledge they can have you put in the system as a missing person and then your life get's real interesting).

2) That being said, explain to them why you want to go and have an ADULT conversation about it -- want to see your heritage, spend time with your Grandparents before it's too late, etc...

3) If they do let you go, go LEGALLY -- get the license from the Department of the Treasury otherwise you will be committing a Federal crime. Cuban Ex-pats are allowed one trip every three years (generally) but must have a license from the US Gov't to do it (otherwise you risk fines in the thousands of dollars, possible jail time, and examination EVERY TIME YOU TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY).

4) "i am american and i can go through mexico" -- WE KNOW THIS TRICK and while you "can" go through Mexico, it is still illegal to do so.

Talk to your parents, live with their decision, don't do illegal things (this or any other), have a good life!

You are saying you want to know where your family came from so that means that your family is originally from Cuba?
If that is the case , you may want to say that to your parents, you have the right to know your roots , and your parent's parents country history, and customs. SO that means you have some Cuban relatives and you could possibly travel especially if you go with your grandparents ,only a couple of things: do not do it without your parents permission, I am not encouraging that , and do nt do it tru a third country , if they are traveling in the fall maybe you still have a chance to convince them

I have wanted to see Banes Cuba since I was a litlle girl and my grandmother raised me well while my mother sought out her education. My grandmother very much wanted to return to Cuba for good when my mother was a young girl; my mother refuse to go and wanted to stay with the nuns of her school. My grandmother, before she died, made my mother promise that I would have a trip somewhere like cuba--- i lived in brazil for 13 months when I was 16--- there I enjoyed giving to the children of the Favella, volunterring at the Project Hope Hospital that was in Maceio, singing with friends, reading, seeing the many sights i could in all my daily travels and talking to the people of every class--- it was bueatiful and I learned alot .Nothing, however, can replace my very deep requirement to see Cuba, Banes in particular;I am 47 now and this passionate dream will never die. I hope u get to Cuba before your grand parents die.

Of course you can go if you really want to, and maybe they will never find out..Just go to the Cuba Consulate first and get all the facts... Maybe the US Government and your Grandparents say no, but if they say 'yes', they can even let you hide the evidence with a removable visa in your passport. Then do what you like.... But, go to Mexico first and then to the Cuban Consulate to ask first....

listen to the CBP officer...that's Customs and Border Patrol officer......you do NOT want to start off your life with a red flag next to your name every time you try and travel.

Traveling to Cuba...outside of the way the CBP poster said....is illegal. Against the law. Forbidden. Jail time. Big Fine.

How old are you? If you're American, our government isn't allowing travel to Cuba.

if they do not want you to go, respect that - for now. you'll likely go when you are older. I know no young person likes to hear that, but it's true - parents have to weigh all sides of the issue.

you can impress them by being cooperative and respectful; that will show them you are growing up.
