In my opinion yes, they seem to have better quality parts overall.

Since Sony is Jap, I assume that it is better than Dell. But they are sooooo over priced. Definately not worth the extra dough. I would get me a Dell. The only bad thin is that dell really increased their prices this past month. Good luck. PS. Does anyone know if Sony and HP offer lifetime tech support like Dell?

You have the Sony diehard fans and the Dell diehard fans.
I wont buy the branded laptop cover. Do you? That is quite unsophisticated. I know that every single computer buyer will grill the salesman everything else INSIDE the computer. In there, the customer gets quite brand specific.

Is Ford better than Chevy?
Is noodles better than rice?
Essentially, not really, but it depends on your perspective.
You might want to check consumer reports, or Toms hardware, or a similar review site to check the specifications that matter to you.

They used to be but things seemed to have evened out. They all use similar components. Even most of your support is farmed out.
