Do you read all of the answers??

(Meaning... if you have a popular question & there are so many answers they're on more than 1 page... do you go to the other pages.)

Or do you just look for the best one on the 1st page?

Follow up question....
Do you think it's right or wrong for someone to start their answer, hit submit & then go back & edit it... that way they can get on the top page of a popular question??? (Make sense?)

I read all answers and many times read them again....I sometimes edit my answers but not because brings it to the top ( I didn't know it did this..I thought the answers showed in the order of choice by the reader) I edit many times because I read it after I submit and I might find a misspelled word that the spell check didn't catch or I think of something else I want to say. I'm on here to give the best answer for the asker...it's not a contest to me (however, I am very flattered when my answer is picked as best answer...I'm so excited when I have helped someone out!)

I read all of them. Some of the best answers I've seen have been ones on the final page of a question.

I think it's bogus when someone starts an answer and goes back to edit it just so they get on the first page. I didn't even realize people did that until I answered more and more questions.
I don't care when my answer appears. I'll use the edit button when I've realized I made a spelling/grammatical error, or if I wanted to clarify something.

I read all the answers (although I skim some that are obviously not answering the question I posted).

I do edit my answer, but not in an attempt to "win" points. (I don't really care about points as I can do everything I want at my current level.) Sometimes I have additional information that only becomes available later. Sometimes the asker amends their question, so I respond to the additional information. Sometimes someone else posts an answer that is so dangerously wrong, it needs a rebuttal.

I was under the impression that editing your answer does NOT change its order in the list of answers.

yes I read all the answers. And yes, I have edited an answer but not to make it show up in any certain place, only because I think of something funnier or smarter to say. Or, to tone down a maybe too harsh answer.

I think it is okay to do it if a person thinks that page placement will work, but it is content, that gets best answer, not being at the top of the page, so it is really a waste of their time.

If I decide to vote at all, then I do read all the answers. In the dog section there are rarely more than 40 answers.

I saw one question with 400 answers, I read the occasional one of them, but did not vote.

With regard to the edit, I have no problems with that, and I have on occasions added something later or corrected a mistake, spelling or otherwise. It never occured to me to do it deliberately to get in earlier.

Sometimes I stroll through the older threads, and invariably my answer is further down. Doesn't bother me one bit.

I have only just recently discovered the "fan" functions. So guys, don't get frightened when I suddenly become your fan. LOL. I am adding people whose answers I regularly find good.

I read them all. I go to whatever page there is to read them all, except for the toothbrush one. That one was more for fun. But I do edit sometimes, but only if I think my answer is stupid the first time. Not for any other reason. =) Thanks, Great question too!!! Hope you are having a great weekend!

I read every last one. Many times I had a lot of excellent answers & I had to re-read them all over a couple times to make the hard decision which one was the best out of all the good ones. I think the edit thing is alright. Doesn't matter to me if they are first or last out of 100. The best is the best no matter what number they are!!!
