How can I get OE6 to open xxx.email attachments.?

I run OE6 on Windows XP home edition

When I click on the attachment icon, OE will open up wav files, jpeg, etc, but it will not open .email or .ppt attachemnts. Years ago, in earlier versions of OE, you could "associate" given file extensions to be opened by given programs. How do I do this with OE6?

Double click on the attachment itself - where it says 'Attach.'
You might have to keep opening it (double clicking on it) several times if the person who sent it by forward did not strip off all the email addresses.
