For me, it's the A Series of Unfortunate Event Books. They aren't bad books, it's just that I'm 17 years old, so I don't flaunt the fact that I love them. Also, the Alex Rider series and the Maximum Ride series.

TW K, the Narnia books are definitely intended for children, but I read them at 15 and still enjoyed them. The movie is one of those rare cases where it is EXACTLY like the book though, so unless you want to read the other books in the series, don't think you're missing out on anything. Yeah, I enjoy that movie also. :)

I completely agree with you, Whatever. I may sound a bit ridiculous saying this as a 17 year old, but I'm past the point where I worry about what is cool. Lewis phrased this phenomenon superbly well.

You shouldn't be embarrassed to enjoy these books. Any work that is well-written and pulls the reader in has merit - and the age of the reader is irrelevant. I am a grandmother, also a teacher, and I love many of the children's and young adult books. I read "adult" books, too, of course, but I appreciate the skills of a talented writer - no matter the target audience.

So just be your own person. Read what you want and don't worry about it. Good books enrich our lives - remember that.

This series by William Nicholson. The first one is The Wind Singer, then Slaves of the Mastery, then Firesong.

I guess it's a little embarrassing just because I'm 18, I've been out of the YA/teen section for four or five years, and those books are the lowest on the reading scale that I enjoy. I can name a few other YA/teen books I like, but, like I said, these ones are the least challenging. But I love them anyway (:

I have to tell you - I am 46 and I LOVE the Series of Unfortunate Events books. I used to be embarrassed to admit I still like to read books meant for teenagers, but I'm not any more. I have found that when I tell people this fact about half of them say they still like them, too and then they ask me what I have read lately.

Actually the Chronicles of Narnia are great books for adults to read. If you read the preface written by C.S. Lewis you will see that he said he wrote them for his granddaughter but that by the time he finished she was too old for fairy tales. He went on to say, "but soon you will be an adult, and then you will be old enough to enjoy them once again." I forget the exact way he said it, but the idea was that when you are old enough to not worry about what is "cool," you will read them and enjoy them, and get a lot more out of them than a kid would.

Not a book - a movie. i am embarrased to say that i like the Chronicles Of Narnia movie. I am a bit too grown up for that. Of course, I want to read the book, But will that be a bit too childish to read at my age.

Nancy Drew & Trixie Belden books... Especially the Trixie Belden ones. They're not bad books, but, like you, I'm a bit old for them. I'm 16 (and I started reading these when I was 8 or 9, lol). =)

I'm not exactly embarassed to say I like reading them, but I wouldn't exactly broadcast the fact that I still like to read The Baby-Sitters Club, since I'm a 30-year-old guy.

How to books. Like "How to get a life" or "Why am I so lame and how can I get back on track" or "Why I live in a van down by the river"! If I read books like this I have to cover it up some how when in pubic. ;)
