Al Qaeda and Hezbolla have smuggling opereations on our southern border bringing in terrorists and drugs that they can sell to finance their operations. The last year the republicans had total control of our government there were 150,000 people from countries known to sponsor terrorism caught trying to cross our southern border illegally. The INS estimated that 4 got in for every 1 they caught. The Republicans did nothing to secure the border yet they keep warning us that the terrorists want to attack us. The democrats are no better.

As long as there are illegal drugs and cheap illegal workers flooding into this country the terrorists can continue to sneak in illegally and bring any weapons they want with them. Since the washington politicians refuse to do anything to protect the citizens of this country I kinda think it would be ironic if the only terrorist attack that Osama had planned was a well timed suitcase nuke in Washington, D.C. The politicians who would be lost would have noone to blame but themselves.

Bush cannot close the borders. Immigration law is defined by statute. Despite what Bush thinks, he cannot just ignore the law.

Besides, terrorists have been trying (and succeeding) at getting into this country for decades. Nothing has changed. We still live under the same threat that we always have.

Al Qaeda is just one of hundreds of terrorist organizations worldwide, not to mention that more than half of the terrorist attacks in the US in the past two decades have been by US citizens, most born in the US. So, having the border as it is doesn't really increase any threats significantly.

Yep....that is what I thought.
Bush denys that Al Queda is regaining its strength...
But how can that be?
Didn't the great leader once say "Mission accomplished"...and everybody went.... whoppee ...ooorahh...wooo hooo!!!!
If anything strengthened Al Qaeda...it was the invasion of IRAQ.....
They got recruits out the wazoo.
And IRAQ is now a training ground.....
advanced infantry/insurgency training.
Hands on training.
We did the terrorists a great favor.
THANKS A BUNCH DUBYA.

Re the borders.....
The Mexicans must be thrilled.
They will work with Al Qaeda.

Another terrorist attack will serve CONSERVATIVE interests.

That really does worry me. At this point keeping out terrorists is the biggest reason the close the border. Keeping out illegal immigrants would just be an added bonus.

Yes. Our borders are our weakness. I totally agree with you.
