Apparently, they feared a Papal army. I tried to research it, but I haven't found anything on google. Is it a myth or did it really happen?

I think you are referring to Columbus, Ohio, American Protection Agency is a private detective and security firm in Ohio. I know of no planned Papal visit to Columbus by either Paul VI or John Paul II, since they were the only Pontiffs to visit the U.S. interior.
Sounds like a myth.

No worry; the papal Swiss Guard is only 200 members.
Columbia, Ohio and the APA are safe!
