I would like to find one for my mother-in-law's bday. I'd like a live potted plant (she doesn't have a garden to plant it in). I don't know if such a thing even exists but if it does and you know about it I'd appreciate your help. Thanks!!

OK, OK I know it's a weed but it was also something sentimental to my father-in-law who had a tattoo of it and who passed away. Though it would mean more than roses - again. Thanks...

So you really dislike your mother in law?

Scottish thistle is not a house plant and will not survive indoors. It is an noxious weed in most parts of North America if planted outdoors.

The Scottish Thistle is a weed. If I remember correctly, about 200 years ago,, a Scottish immigrant was lonesome for his former home, so he got a thistle plant from Scotland. . From that one plant, it is a weed that now covers most of the country.

In the median of I-10 or I-12 around New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Mississippi or Alabama. It's a weed here and grows like mad.
