I am not offering, I already have no choice because that is where some of the tax money goes too.

Yes I do understand some people truly need it but others are fully capable of working but rather take the hand outs than take a fast food job. I drive by those offices on my way to work and see a long linestanding outside and the cars in the parking lot are all brand new vehicles with rims.

I have been to countries where there are no food stamps and have seen real poverty and starvation. Welfare reform was done properly. Basically get people off the rolls and help them find work. People here are lucky that they can get food stamps here and eat. Sadly it is an enormous burden on the rest of us that work. About 40-45% of tax dollars are spent on food stamps, medicaid, medicare, social security and other social problems.

If the government stopped handing out welfare, food stamps and medicaid, how much do you think of our tax dollars would be saved?
I pay taxes for schools, although I have no children, and I attended private schools.
I pay taxes to pay for the police and the fire department. Although I have never had to call them.
Does this mean my city would be better off if it doens't offer what I am not using?
How about if you got very ill, and your health insurance gave you the boot. You have a mortgage to pay, and a family to feed. Your husband divorces you. Your relatives couldn't take care of you & children. Where would you go?
Would you be able to take care of your parents or relatives if they didn't have where to go for the lack of money? Or would you like to be in the position where you couldn't help them and would have to see them die out of hunger?
That's what already happens in developing countries. You could go south the border and see this or abroad and you would see a lot of destitute people who need help but there is no one who cares or can't help them. This sight, in my opinion, is not my definition of a better America.

NO but it would be better if we would start having more strict rules on it and ENFORCING IT!!! I called and tried to cancel my medicaid and welfare when i didn't need it any more and no one did i tried DOZENS of times and they never did. Finaly after about 4 months they stoped sending it. I needed it because i was a single mom trying to take care of my kid alone with only a high school education and no good jobs around. i did have a job but it only payed the bills didn't have enough for food for my kid either.

It is so funny that when a question like this appear most people quickly assume that only blacks and latinos are the only ones that use these services. Silly people watch too much television. By the way, a very small percentage of tax payers money pay for these services, most of the money goes to the military and in the pockets of our beloved Political leaders.

Along with that you must provide that the working poor will be able to earn a "living wage" so they don't have to be dependent on food stamps or medicaid.
There but for the grace of God go you.

Some people truly need the help. There is alot of abuse but the government waste alot of our tax money also. I wish there was a perfect fix but there isn't.

It would be a better place if people didn't take unfair advantage of those programs, but I think those programs are valuable for those who find themselves truly in need of assistance.
Aren't we judged on how we take care of the poor, the sick, the hungry?

There are some people who do take advantage of the system. But, there are also people who truely need these services. Think about the elderly who have medical needs, children who have lost parents, elderly widows, physically impaired.

It would be better if they stopped sending the jobs overseas so people won't have to get on welfare and food stamps and medicaid.

No, the fact of the matter there are people who need assistance. And this country could learn something from other countries who have socialized medical health care. This country would be a better place if we didn't have a moron running it.
