Rock or Hip hop?

Question

I perfer ROCK. Hip hop is so degrading, they flash their money when ppl are in need, saying that getting money and banging "biitches and hoes", and diamonds on their teeth when kids in Africa are starving to search diamonds for food. Hip hop has too much profanity, and yes Rock has some too, but barely.

I know Im right about Hip Hip. I grew up with my latino family and african americans here in jersey. it's nothing but degrading.

Of course ppl, Pop is very cool. i listen to it whenever i feel soft and sweet.

I prefer rock. I don't want to hear some guy say how he enjoys slapping his ***** down, etc., etc. nor do I like to hear the "F" word 20 times in a song. I like music, not some musician on a constant degrading tirade. Not all hip hop is that way of course, I'm sure there must be some good stuff out there, but I can't get past the majority of what I've heard, that I can't stand.

Even if all that weren't true, I'd still take rock over hip-hop. Rock music has produced many of the great songs in the history of popular music, and has housed many geniuses in the areas of songwriting and mastery of various musical instruments. Hip hop as it stands today is essentially created by using a computer to create overblown bass-thumping artificial sounding beats, and having whatever 'artist' it is give their vocal delivery. Rock has been, is, and always will be better than Hip-hop.

Rock!! I grew up in a home where my dad and older brothers listened to rock 24/7. I learned that unlike the pop and hip hop music most people listen to, rock will never die. In my house, it's like a religion.

I like rap. I don't really pay attention to the words though. Some rap like old school rap is poetic. It gives people who cant sing a chance to use words to get across there message. It does require MUCH talent to freestyle AND rhyme. Hip-Hop and rap are also very profitable since it requires a larger team.

I like rock too but not, all of it. I listen to more country than rock.

I feel the same way. I live in a household where people who like rock and people who like rap are split exactly 50/50, and I'm on the rock side. I'm very young compared to a lot of people here, so it's amazing that I havn't been cought up in mainstream or rap. Rap is degrading, and I end up listening to a lot of it. Normally then I have to go listen to some Chains or something to clense myself...

ROCK!!!! No doubt.Rap is dead and as you said it's degrading.Even though i'm a man i find it horrible the way these guys walk around with pimp cups and canes covered in diamonds when those same kids in harlem and such that they rap about STILL aren't getting any help.They got out of the hood and aren't helping others.They would rather look like a pimp.Makes me sick but anyway there's no comparison for me. Rock is ageless and keeps producing new kinds of rock and new bands that are awesome.MCR,FOB and Linkin Park are so awesome!!!

I have to say Rock and Alternative are better than hip hop and rap. Hip hop and rap have no substance, like what one writer posted previously they use artificial beats. Not to creative to me. Like the great songwriter Morrissey once said, "I dont want to even try to explain the purpose of hip hop"

Rock. Most rap these days only talk about being a gangster. I only hate that kind of rap. Other hip-hop songs are okay.
