A few things could be wrong. The defrost control could be stuck or broken, the compressor could be failing, the coils could be extremely clogged with dirt, the refrigerant piping may have a leak....You need someone to do a checkout.

You could clean the coils underneath with a vaccuuum to check that off the list. My bet would go to the defrost timer, usually they don't lose their refrigerant charge unless you start jabbing things with something sharp.

It could be that it has iced up. To fix it, either unplug it for a day, or use a hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer compartment. There should be a way to pop off the back cover from inside the freezer to expose the coils. If these are covered with ice, no cold air will be able to blow into the refrigerator. Use the hair dryer to get rid of the ice, and it should be o.k.

Time for a new refrigerator. The freon has leaked out. It could be a bad compressor. You will need to get a serviceman out to take a look anyway, if you want a chance to save it. good luck.

Dirty coil under fridge sort of like your out door air conditioning unit when it gets hot out side I rinse off the coils out side first. but on a fridge you use air pressure [DUST] everywhere or a vacuum with small soft brush clean it. could also be frozen due to the defrost cycle not working properly. remove plastic cover in freezer this may take awhile some of them u have to remove the door just look at it and decide if you want to tackle the job. coil behind plastic [indoor coil] has defrost sensor clipped onto one of the coil loops this can be replaced cheaply if you do it the labor is what kicks but, can be time consuming and no one works for free any more. to check unplug fridge for 4 hours with door open let thaw then plug back in you will know with in 1 hour weather it was frozen or not. if it works it was if not check attitude or pocket book Luck.

It sounds like it is out of Freon which is what helps it get cold. Call a refrigerator repair shop and talk to them. You cannot do this one.

Check the refrigrant system : it could be leaking the refrigrant (Freon) and need to be refilled with more Freon. It is possible that the Freon compressor is not working (very unlikely but possible if your refrigerator is old).
Whatever you do, refer to the user's manual and use original parts.

Probably all the freon has leaked out. That way the pump runs, but nothing gets cold. You'll need to plug any leak and refill the coolant pipes.

May need a Freon Recharge
The Cooling element / "radiator" may need cleaning
The compressor may be going.

I would try the cleaning first..Its free and works 50% of the time to solve this issue

vacuum under it. check thermostat. pull it out from the wall and vacuum the coils.. Unplug it and re plug it. If it is brand new it may take up to a week to adjust to a cold temp. if more than 10 years old- time for the repairman to clean out your checking account.
