The subject has become so heated than even honest questions aren't allowed any more, and that prevents any progress from occurring to finding the truth or any accommodation.

Because it's offensive to some to be generalized by the term "blacks". Try why are African Americans called blacks when their skin color varies from dark to very light? The problem is the racism behind the term "blacks". If the accurate ethnic denomination of African American were used instead of a color there wouldn't be any debate. I have yet to see a form that says Black White Brown Red Tan Yellow and so on. Only the African American and Caucasian American races are identified with colors and that's just wrong. It's as though these two races are not entitled to the same respect of identifying by ethnic group. Hispanics are called Hispanics not browns. Natives are called Natives not Reds. It makes quite a difference.

Well that Ralph guy and Dr Shore just throw the n-word around, and it takes a while for them to get deleted. So with yahoo, you never know.

The same reason I get banned for referring to black Africans as their scientific name "*******". But people never get banned for calling white Europeans "Caucasian", when they're not from the Caucasus region of Eurasia.

Probably becuase somebody reported you because they thought you were racist.

The term blacks probably came from being in the fields of a plantation all day and getting darker because of it.

Why are whites called whites?

And by the way, questions are deleted at random. You could ask "what kind of pigeon should i get?" and have it deleted. Trust me, Y!A doesn't delete racist questions that fast.

not being racist, but it is kind of wrong to ask those "people" why they're "black". they were called "black people" because their skin is dark and "white people" because those people have lighter coloured skin. also, it sounds more racist than asking why some people are "white people."
