I have a deck of cards where one end of the card is slightly tapered so its shorter than the other side. there's a couple of tricks you can do with a deck like this, but a good one is to have someone pick a card (don't look at it) and say that you will pull this card out of the deck. then put it in the other way around. you can feel the edge of the deck and feel for the bulge. ta-da!

Read a book or two on the subject.
Get a basic package from a store that sells theatrical stuff.
Study the instructions, practice and practice.
Convince yourself you can do it.
Remember, distraction of your audience is the secret.
Practice until you can fool your smallest brother or sister or cousins. Once you can do that you are on your way.
